Salem State Tournament Recap

Game 1 - UMF 47 vs. University of Southern Maine 62

Playing without junior guard Megan Woodcock, UMF received solid performances from it's line up of eight freshmen to stay close to perennial NCAA Division III powerhouse USM.  UMF was led by senior captain Rachel Bard with 9 points, 6 assists and 4 steals followed by junior Sam Hunt (8pts), junior Jocelyn Sawyer (7pts, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks) and freshmen Cheryl Kempton (7pts) and Desirae Haines (7pts, 6 rebounds, 2 steals).

Game 2 - UMF 60 vs, Massachusetts Institute of Technology 56

Again playing without a full roster due to academic commitments, UMF was able to topple MIT and even their record to 1-1 on the season.  Jocelyn Sawyer poured in 16 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and blocked 3 shots to lead UMF.  Freshman Kate LaHaye recorded her first collegiate double-double with 13 points (3 three pointers) and 12 rebounds. Rachel Bard contributed 11 points, 6 assists and 5 steals in the victory.  UMF returns to action on Tuesday November 20th when they visit MAC rival St. Joseph's College in Standish at 5:30pm.
