CASTINE -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team dropped a pair of North Atlantic Conference matches today at Maine Maritime Academy's Margaret Smtih Gymnasium.
The Beavers (8-9 overall, 4-3 in the NAC) fell to the host Mariners 3-0 (25-10, 25-18, 25-16) and Husson University 3-0 (29-27, 25-12, 25-8). Farmington is scheduled to visit St. Joseph's College Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Versus MMA, Emily Beebe (South Paris, ME) led the Beavers with seven kills and four digs, while Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, NH) added six kills and nine digs. Katie Allen (Bucksport, ME) led Farmington with nine assists while Whitney Walls (Bar Harbor, ME) added seven helpers in the loss. Jenna Rowan (Kittery, ME) and Caitlin Flaherty (Plymouth, MA) each led the Beavers with 10 digs.
Chelsea Ward (Homer, AK) dominated the match leading MMA (17-2, 6-0) with 13 kills on only 21 attempts to go along with 10 digs and four block assists. Amy Young (Cumberland, ME) and sophomore hitter Kayley Rodriguez (Quincy, IL) each collected eight kills. Heather Moore (Macedon, NY) played well collecting seven kills and adding five service aces. Jennifer Dixon (Woodstock, MD) was outstanding again collecting 32 assists, while Lauren Sakahara (Bellevue, WA) added 10 digs.
Versus Husson, Mitchell led Farmington with five kills and six digs. Rowan collected 10 digs and three aces while Allen led the team with eight assists.
Hannah Olstad (Farmington, NH) led Husson with 10 kills on 21 attempts while Kaitlyn McKay (Lincoln, RI) added six kills of her own. Marion Kish (Wallingford, CT) led the Eagles with 20 assists and seven service aces while McKay pitched in with 12 digs.
