Mitchell honored with weekly rookie award
FARMINGTON -- University of Maine at Farmington freshman right-side hitter Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, NH) was named the North Atlantic Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference today.
Mitchell collected 11 kills with one error in 22 attacks (.455 hitting percentage) in a 3-0 NAC win over Lyndon State -- the Beavers' only game last week. Mitchell also had four digs, a solo block and a block assist.
This is the third time this season that Mitchell has received the honor.
Farmington (9-10) is scheduled to host Thomas College in North Atlantic Conference quarterfinal action Saturday. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
