Women's volleyball loses to MMA, Husson

CASTINE -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball dropped a pair of North Atlantic Conference matches today with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-18) loss to Husson University and a 3-1 (25-23, 25-15, 23-25, 25-19) loss to Maine Maritime Academy.

With the cancellation of their match Tuesday at St. Joseph's College, the Beavers (8-10 overall, 3-2 in the NAC) are scheduled to close out their regular season next Saturday at Lyndon State College.

Against Husson, Erica Kane led the Eagles with 10 kills while McKay added six. Marion Kish had had 20 assists for Husson while Kary-Anne Cyr added nine digs and three aces.

Emily Beebe (Bristol, RI) led Farmington with five kills and two aces.  Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, NH) contributed five kills and four aces for the Beavers while Jenna Rowan (Kittery, ME) led Farmington with nine digs. Lindsay Hansen (Gorham, ME) had 15 assists.

Kristi Gordon led MMA with 10 kills while Amy Young added 9 of her own. Young also collected 11 digs, 3 aces and 2 blocks in the match. Nicole St. Pierre (Baileyville, ME) played well collecting 8 kills and 3 block assists while Heather Moore had 26 assists. Lauren Sakahara added to her school record of digs with 21.

Beebe led the Beavers with 10 kills and Danielle O’Brien (Calais, ME) added seven. Hansen has 23 assists, while Rowan collected 16 digs and four aces in the loss.
