Women's volleyball invitational starts

FARMINGTON -- The UMF Invitational women's volleyball tournament got under way on Friday at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Action continues on Saturday with games at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Schedule

On Friday, the Beavers improved to 7-9 with a 3-2 victory (24-30, 30-28, 27-30, 30-21, 15-8) over UMaine-Machias.

Meghan Dube (Lewiston, ME) led UMF in kills with 17, while Danielle O'Brien (Calais, ME) made nine kills and a team-high 21 digs and Emily Beebe (Bristol, RI) also notched nine kills.

Other contests included UMaine-Machias 3, UMaine-Presque Isle 1 (30-12, 24-30, 33-31, 30-27), Husson 3, Salem State 1 (30-15, 30-15, 27-30, 30-14)
and Salem State 3, UMaine-Presque Isle 1 (30-19, 29-31, 30-20, 30-27).
