Women's volleyball splits at home

FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team defeated Bay Path 3-0 (30-21, 30-25, 30-27), but fell to Husson 3-1(30-23, 23-30, 30-20, 30-25) in North Atlantic Conference action Saturday at Dearborn Gymnasium.

In the day's other contest, Husson beat Bay Path 3-1 (30-22, 30-20, 30-32, 30-27).

The Beavers (4-8 overall, 3-3 in NAC) are scheduled to visit Unity on Tuesday. Husson improved to 13-4 (6-0), while Bay Path dropped to 2-8 (1-5).

Against Bay Path, Danielle O'Brien (Calais, ME) scorched 15 kills and Amy Boardman (York, ME) made 13 digs in the victory. Meagan Dube (Lewiston, ME) pitched in with nine kills with Katie Allen (Bucksport, ME) and Caitlin Flaherty (Pembroke, MA) sharing setting duties with 11 and 12, respectively.

Against Husson, Emily Beebe (Bristol, RI) collected 13 kills and Jessica Whittaker (Calais, ME) registered 13 digs, but the Beavers fell. Whittaker also made five service aces with Boardman adding nine kills and O'Brien eight kills and 11 digs. Allen and Flaherty each made 11 assists.
