Volleyball's Brittni Gray Named to
All-State Team
Since joining the UMF volleyball team three years ago,
having never played organized volleyball before, senior outside hitter,
Brittni Gray has consistently demonstrated her drive to win and
improve. Last weekend she was rewarded for all of her hard work by
being named to the All - State second team, recognizing her as one of the
top 12 division three players in the State of Maine. Brittni and the
rest of the team are gearing up for the MAC Tournament to be held Saturday
November 3rd at St. Joseph's College.

Volleyball Drops Match to St. Joseph's
The UMF volleyball team was unable to get by MAC rival
St. Joseph's College yesterday in a consolation match in the State of
Maine Tournament held at Colby College. UMF lost three close games
in the match (30-27, 31-29, 30-27). The Beavers will prepare for the
MAC tournament this weekend at St. Joseph's College Saturday November 3rd.

Volleyball Goes 1-1 on First Day of Maine
State Tournament
The UMF volleyball team was able to defeat Unity College
3-1 before dropping the second match of the night to strong Bates
team. UMF will face St. Joseph's College and the winner of the
Unity/Husson match to close out the tournament. The Beavers will spend
the next week preparing for the MAC tournament on November 3rd at St.
Joseph's College.

Volleyball Defeats Husson at UMaine
Machias
UMF Volleyball notched another conference win while
competing at UMaine Machias this weekend. UMF's conference record now
stands at 5-8. Scores from this weekend were:
UMF 0--St. Joseph's 3 (24-30, 18-30, 20-30)
UMF 2--UMPI 3 (30-27, 18-30, 30-21, 21-30, 10-15)
UMF 3--Husson 2 (26-30, 30-16, 30-14, 18-30, 15-8)
UMF 0--UMM 3 (13-30, 28-30, 15-30)

Volleyball takes USM to Four on Senior
Night
As UMF's senior captain Brittni Gray played her final
match in Dearborn Gymnasium, UMF had one of it's strongest performances of
the season tonight versus visiting University of Southern Maine. The
Beavers came out strong in the first game winning 30-23 and fought to a
28-30 loss in the second game. USM came back strong in the 3rd to win
30-9 and closed out the match winning 24-30. UMF travels
to UMaine Machias Friday and Saturday for the last tournament of the season
before the Maine State tournament.

UMF Places 4th in Volleyball
Invitational
The UMF Volleyball team was able to defeat Husson
College (30-19, 30-16, 30-22) Friday night in the opener of the UMF
Invitational Tournament held in Dearborn Gymnasium this weekend.
Other scores for the night included: Salem State over UMaine Presque
Isle (30-21, 30-14, 30-28) and the University of Southern Maine over
UMaine Machias (30-21, 30-17, 28-30, 30-23). On Saturday the Beavers
built on the win the previous night defeating UMaine Presque Isle (32-30,
30-21, 30-17). In the semifinals of the tournament the UMF lost to
Salem State (31-29, 30-32, 30-19, 30-27). Brittni Gray was selected
to the All-Tournament Team for the second time this year.

Colby
Too Much for Volleyball
After a close first game UMF was unable to stay with the
White Mules for the rest of the match. The Beavers dropped the match
27-30, 11-30, 14-30. UMF's record is now 4-14 overall and 2-5 in the
MAC. The team is gearing up for this weekends invitational here in
Farmington where they will face Salem State, St. Joseph's (ME), USM, UMPI,
Husson and UMaine Machias.

Volleyball
Defeats Unity in Four
The Beavers came back strong after dropping the first game
to Unity College tonight to capture their 4th win of the season. UMF
was led again by the impressive play of freshman Jesse Andreozzi (18 aces,
10 kills) and junior Lisa Blais (24 assists). The Beavers are in
action again tomorrow night as they travel to Waterville to take on the
Colby College White Mules.

Volleyball
Drops Three at Salem State
UMF was unable to find a way to solve the powerful
offenses of Endicott College, Salem State and Eastern Nazarene this
weekend as the Beavers slip to a 3-10 overall record. Junior, Co-Captain
Lisa Blais was the third UMF player this year to be selected to an All
Tournament Team. Tuesday, October 2nd UMF will host Unity College at
7pm.

Jessica
Andreozzi Named to Volleyball All Invitational Team at Bowdoin College
Freshman Jessica Andreozzi was rewarded for her consistent
play this weekend by being placed on the All Invitational Team. The
Beavers struggled in the tournament dropping matches to UNE, UMaine Machias
and USM. Results of the matches were:
UNE d. UMF (30-19, 30-20, 30-19)
UMM d. UMF (30-26, 30-8, 30-25)
USM d. UMF (30-20, 30-21, 30-22)
Next the Beavers travel to Unity on Wednesday September
26th.
