Men's soccer opens with win at Unity UNITY -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team opened its 2009 season with a 1-0 victory over Unity College this afternoon. The Beavers (1-0) are scheduled to hold its alumni match on Saturday followed by a non-conference game against Maine Maritime Academy on Sunday at Prescott Field. Unity slipped to 0-1. Patrick Martin (West Berlin, VT) converted a Dillon Clark (Old Town, ME) feed 22 minutes into the match for the Beavers' one-goal difference. Despite the close score, Farmington fired off 29 shots to Unity's three with Michael Kelly (Norton, MA) and Daniel Horne (Bay Shore, NY) each clanging the cross bar in the contest. Farmington netminder Paul Dupre (Rehoboth, MA) made one save in recording a shutout in his first collegiate start. Ian Shalit stopped 21 shots in the loss.
