Men's soccer taken down by Colby

FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team was blanked 6-0 by Colby College in non-conference action today at Prescott Field.

The Beavers (7-5-2) are scheduled to visit Newbury College on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The loss ended a six-game unbeaten streak for Farmington. The Mules (3-6-2) are tabbed to host Thomas College Monday at 7 p.m.

Scott Brown (Trumbull, CT) netted a hat trick to lead Colby, which blasted 40 shots to the Beavers' four. Andrew Meisel (Newtown, CT) and Ben Desmond (Ann Arbor, MI) each chipped in a goal and two assists, while Josh Lyvers (Harvard, MA) each had a goal and Nick Aubin (Simsbury, CT) collected two assists.

Meisel opened the scoring off an assist by Desmond at 15:44 and fed Brown at 23:38 for a 2-0 lead. Desmond chipped in an Aubin throw-in at 36:10 for a 3-0 Colby lead at intermission.

The Mules scored three times over a 4:22 span in the second half to pull away for the 6-0 victory.

Erik Corcoran (Gorham, NH) hauled in 14 saves for the Beavers.

Dan Marden (Londonderry, NH) did not need to make a save in 53:12 in goal for Colby. Doug Sibor (Hingham, MA) made two saves over the final 36:48.
