Men's soccer slips past Johnson State
FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team netted a pair of first-half goals and held on to down Johnson State College 2-1 in North Atlantic Conference action at Prescott Field.
The Beavers ran their record to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in the NAC with Lyndon State College at home today for a 2:15 p.m. game. The Badgers dropped to 6-5 (2-2)
James Tollefson (Middletown, RI) knocked in a feed by Sean Raph (Waterville, ME) 2:55 into the contest and Andrew Harner (Naperville, IL) scored an unassisted marker at 13:02 to give Farmington a 2-0 command in the contest.
Christopher Keefer tightened the score at 67:59 when he scored on a Kegan Pettit pass to cut the lead to 2-1.
Matthew Dennett (Augusta, ME) recorded seven saves in the victory. The Beavers were outshot by the Badgers 14-11 and the visitors held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
Andy Lane stopped five shots in the loss.
