Men's soccer loses at Colby

WATERVILLE -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team suffered a 4-0 setback to Colby College in non-conference action today.

The Beavers dropped to 3-5 on the season and are scheduled to host North Atlantic Conference foes Johnson State College Saturday and Lyndon State College Sunday.

Josh Lyvers (Harvard, MA) scored a pair of goals and Colby (4-4) scored twice on corner kick opportunities.

Colby did not score until Lyvers tallied off a corner kick by Andrew Cheit (Davis, CA) with just 4:30 to halftime. Farmington was able to keep the Mules off the scoreboard for the opening 23 minutes of play in the second half until Lyvers blasted home a shot from just outside the penalty box area.

The Mules added goals by Cheit and Duy Lyford (China, ME) in the final seven minutes of play. Both goals were assisted by Logan King (Hingham, MA) and the tally at 83:15 was off a corner kick. Lyford’s goal came off a free kick with just 3:08 to play.

Matthew Dennett (Augusta, ME) made 10 stops for the Beavers.

Doug Sibor (Hingham, MA) stopped two shots to record the shutout.
