Men's cross country runner-up at NACs
The University of Maine at Farmington men's cross country team eked out a second-place finish at the North Atlantic Conference Championships at Johnson State College today.
Lyndon State College won the event with 33 points followed by the Beavers (54) and Maine Maritime Academy (55). Castleton (79), Johnson State (129) and Green Mountain College (167) rounded out the competing teams.
Lyndon State's Craig Johnson captured both NAC Runner of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors as the freshman toured the 8K course in 29:03. Farmington's Kel Cenga (Brewster, MA) was the runner-up at 29:21 with teammates Cam Betts (Gray, ME) in seventh at 30:07 and Ty Thurlow (Lee, ME) in eighth at 30:12 cracking the All-NAC First Team. Cam Fecteau (Gorham, ME) in 15th at 31:39 and Chris Durkin (Brunswick, ME) in 22nd at 33:06 completed the Beavers' scoring with Fecteau receiving All-NAC Second Team honors.
Lyndon's Chris Ummer garnered NAC Coach of the Year accolades. Castleton received the Team Sportsmanship Award.
