Golf finishes in third at NAC championship

The University of Maine at Farmington golf team finished in third place behind Husson University and Castleton State College in the North Atlantic Conference Championships held at Rutland Country Club.

Husson won its third consecutive title with a two-day total of 631 (319-312) with Castleton close behind at 644 (320-324). Farmington rebounded after a tough first round to finish third at 664 (345-319). Maine Maritime Academy took home fourth place at 695 (342-353) just edging out Thomas College's 699 (348-351). Green Mountain College rounded out the field of six with a 912 (458-454).

Andy Farrell (Stanton, MI) was a big part of Farmington’s success, carding a tournament-low 73 on day two. Farrell finised tied for seventh place at 161. Farrell and teammate Nick Waltz (Damariscotta, ME) were named to the All-NAC Second Team. Waltz finished the tournament tied for ninth place at 163 (81-82).

University of Maine at Farmington coach Robert Timmins was named the NAC Coach of the Year for the second straight season.
