SOUTH PORTLAND -- Rich Matthews (Portland, ME) fired a 78 to lead the University of Maine at Farmingtom golf team to a third-place finish at the USM Fall Classic at Sable Oaks today.

Husson University won the competition with a 314 followed by Endicott College (319) and the Beavers (323). University of New England (329), University of Southern Maine (330), St. Joseph's College (339) and Bowdoin College (371) rounded out the seven-team field.

The tournament was originally scheduled for two rounds, but Sunday's play was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Following Matthews, Nick Waltz (Damariscotta, ME) shot an 80, Orion Cochrane (Greenville, ME) came in with an 82 and Mike Lawson (Milo, ME) recorded an 83 to complete Farmington's scoring.

Farmington is scheduled to return to Sable Oaks Friday for the USM Fall Cup.
