VASSALBORO -- The University of Maine at Farmington golf team placed seventh in the State of Maine Championships at Natanis Golf Club today.
The Beavers were scheduled to compete in the two-day USM Fall Classic starting Sunday at Sable Oaks, but Sunday's round has been cancelled due to forecasted inclement weather. The event will be a one round event on Monday.
Husson University placed first at States with 619 with the University of Southern Maine (658), Bowdoin College (659), Colby College (660) and Bates College (662) tightly packed in the next four spots. Farmington was seventh at 675.
Mike Lawson (Milo, ME) was Farmington's top golfer with an 82-83-165. Orion Cochrane (Greenville, ME) at 89-79-168, Reid Bond (Farmington, ME) at 85-88-173 and Nick Waltz (Damariscotta, ME) at 92-82-174 filled out the Beavers' team score.
