ORONO -- The University of Maine at Farmington golf team placed third at the North Atlantic Conference Championships today at Penobscot Valley Country Club.
Husson University captured the NAC title at 604 followed by Castleton State College (644) and Farmington (652). The Beavers -- who turned in a 326 on each day -- have finished in third place each of the last four seasons.
Thomas College (704), Maine Maritime Academy (710), Johnson State College (729) and Green Mountain College (866) rounded out the championship field

Kevin Byrne of Husson fired a two-day 142 to earn medalist honors for the tournament. Husson played consistently throughout the tournament, taking three of the top five positions in the tournament.
Reid Bond (Farmington, ME) finished fifth in the NAC with a two-day total of 158 (80-78) to lead the Beavers and earn All-NAC First Team accolades.
Nick Waltz (Damariscotta, ME) made the All-NAC Second Team at 162 (82-80). Waltz also achieved All-NAC Second Team in 2008.
Mike Lawson (Brownville, ME) at 163 (81-82) and Rich Matthews (Portland, ME) at 169 (83-86) completed the scoring for Farmington. Orion Cochrane (Greenville, ME) also competed for Farmington at 172 (86-86).
