Golf fourth at Southern Maine Cup
SOUTH PORTLAND -- The University of Maine at Farmington golf team finished in fourth place at the University of Southern Maine Cup today at Sable Oaks.
The host Huskies won the event at 218 followed by the University of New England (235), St. Joseph's College (241) and the Beavers (256).
Douglas Jennings (Hallowell, ME) and Nick Waltz (Damariscotta, ME) led the Beavers with a two-man 73. The Southern Maine Cup features pairs of golfers playing six holes of best ball, followed by six holes of scramble format and then six holes of alternate shot golf.
Richard Matthews (Portland, ME) and Matt Migliore (Union, ME) combined for an 83 with Mike Lawson (Williamsburg TWP) and Ryan Michaud (Sabattus, ME) carding a 100.
Farmington is scheduled to return to action Sunday and Monday at the Husson University Fall Invitational at Penobscot Valley.
