All Conference Teams Announced, 23 UMF Student-Athletes Honored

UMF has placed 23 student-athletes on the North Atlantic Conference All Conference Team rosters.  They are as follows:

UMF Golf  - NAC Runner's UP!

The UMF men's golf team took second place in the North Atlantic Conference Championship today.  The Beavers shot a second round 322 to go along with a first round 315 for a team total of 637 to secure 2nd place.  UMF's Aaron Wood finished in 6th place with a two round total of 158, good enough to make the all conference team.  Matt Greenleaf finished in 7th with a 159 total, Jim Rand notched a 161, followed by Kyle Feltis with a 162 and Brandon Poulin with a 163.

UMF Golf in 2nd Place After First Round of NAC Tournament

The UMF Golf team is in 2nd place after the first round of the North Atlantic Conference Championship being played at Penobscot Valley Country Club.  UMF's Aaron Wood is currently tied for third overall with a 77, followed by Kyle Feltis and Brandon Poulin who are tied for 5th with 79's.  Husson College is holding first place entering the second round of play that began today at 8:00am.  Team scores are as follows:

Golf Plays Well at Two Day Husson Event

The UMF golf team scored a two day total of 639 (319 + 320) to take 6th place that the Husson Invitational on Sunday and Monday.  UMF individual medalist was Matt Greenleaf with a two day total of 151 (76 + 75).  He was followed by Brandon Poulin with a 158 (81 + 77), Aaron Wood with a 161 (79 + 82), Jim Rand with a 169 (84 + 85) and Kyle Feltis with a 171 (86 + 85).  Team scores for the event went as follows:

The team will return to the course on October 24th and 25th for the North Atlantic Conference Championship which will be played at Husson College with tee times of 9am on both days.1

Golf Wins Sid Farr Invitational

The UMF golf team led by Brandon Poulin took first place in the Sid Farr Invitational hosted by Colby College on Saturday.  UMF scored a 51 in modified scoring in which team points were awarded as follows:  -1 for double bogy, 0 for bogy, 1 for par, 2 for birdy, 3 for eagle.  Poulin, medalist for the event, scored a 75 and was followed by Aaron Wood with a 76, Jim Rand with a 79 and Kyle Feltis and Matt Greenleaf with 82 each.  UMF will return to the course on Sunday the 10th for a 2pm start at Penobscot Valley Country Club hosted by Husson College.

Golf Takes 6th at UMF Invitational

The UMF golf team placed sixth at the annual UMF Invitational played at Belgrade Lakes Golf Course yesterday.  UMF's team score of 350 was good enough to get past Maine Maritime and the University of New England.  Husson College won the tournament with a team score of 317.  UMF was led by Brandon Poulin who scored an 83.  Jim Rand and Matt Greenleaf followed with 86's and Jon Bird chipped in with a 95.  UMF returns to the course on Saturday at the Waterville Country Club at 12pm.

Golf Places 5th out of 14 at State Tournament

UMF's Jim Rand led the Beavers to a 5th place finish at yesterday's State of Maine Tournament at Point Sebego Golf Course.  Rand, a junior from Oakland, ME, shot a team low score of 74 to help UMF to a 308 team score and victories over Bates, Thomas, Maine Maritime, UNE, UMaine Presque Isle, Colby, Southern Maine CC, Northern Maine CC and Eastern Maine CC.  Other UMF scorers were Aaron Wood (76), Brandon Poulin (78), Matt Greenleaf (80), and Kyle Feltis (83).

Golf Places 4th at St. Joseph's Invitational

Team medalist, Aaron Wood (77), led the UMF golf team to a fourth place finish at the St. Joseph's College Invitational.  UMF's score of 317 was good enough to get past Thomas College and the University of New England.  The University of Southern Maine won the invitational with a score of 306 followed by Husson College and St. Joseph's College with scores of 307 each.  Other scorers for the Beavers were Jim Rand (81), Matt Greenleaf (87), Kyle Feltis (79) and Brandon Poulin (80).

Golf Defeats Bates in Dual Match

The UMF golf team defeated Bates College 327-344 yesterday at the Belgrade Lakes Golf Course.  Medalist Aaron Wood led the Beavers with a 73.  Other UMF scorers were Jim Rand with 81, Kyle Feltis with 86, Brandon Poulin with 87, Jon Bird with 90 and Matt Greenleaf with 101.  The Beavers will return to the course on Tuesday the 21st at Point Sebego Golf Course for a tournament hosted by St. Joseph's College.

Golf Takes Fifth at Terrier Invitational

The UMF golf team placed 5th in yesterday's Terrier Invitational hosted by Thomas College at the Samoset golf course.  Leading the Beavers was Jim Rand with a 75 good enough for a top ten finish.  Other scorers for UMF were Aaron Wood (83), Matt Greenleaf (77), Brandon Poulin (85) and Kyle Feltis (83).  The golf team will return to action on Tueday the 21st when they participate in the St. Joseph's Invitational played at Point Sebego golf course.

Golf Takes Third at Southern Maine Invitational

The UMF golf team placed third in a field of 11 teams in last Saturday's season opening invitational at the University of Southern Maine.  Leading the Beavers were Brandon Poulin (77), Jim Rand (78), Aaron Wood (82), Matt Greenleaf (83) and Jon Bird (96).  UMF's team score of 321 was good enough to defeat Thomas College, Maine Maritime Academy, Endicott College, UMaine Presque Isle, Coast Guard Academy, University of New England, St. Joseph's College and the Southern Maine - Green team.  Next up for the golfers will be a duel match with Thomas College today at the Samoset golf course.
