Golf Concludes Fall Season

The UMF golf team concluded the fall portion of their season on Tuesday when they competed in the University of Southern Maine Invitational at Sable Oaks Golf Club.  As a team the Beavers finished in fourth place behind Husson College, Southern Maine and Laval College.  Individually, Jim Rand led UMF with a two day 157, shooting a 78 on day one and a 79 on day two.  Other scorers for UMF were Sam Marzenell (158), Aaron Wood (159), Mike Burian (165) and Ricky Blouin (176).  UMF's record stands at 35-15-2.  the team will pick up play in April in preparation for the conference championship.

Golf Places Third at UMF Invitational

The UMF golf team hosted its annual tournament yesterday at the Belgrade Lakes Golf Course in Belgrade, ME.  UMF placed third overall behind the play of senior Sam Marzenell and junior Aaron Wood.  Marzenell and Wood both shot fourth place 76's to lead the Beavers.  Other scorers for UMF were James Rand (85), Ricky Blouin (86), Mike Burian (86) and Brandon Fuentes (95).  UMF's team score of 323 secured third place behind St. Joseph's College (314) and Husson College (313).  The Beavers will take to the course again this weekend for the Alumni tournament at Natanis Golf Course.

Golf Takes Third at St. Joseph's Invitational

In a shortened tournament due to weather, the UMF golf team fired a 164 on 9 holes to take third place behind the University of Southern Maine and Husson College.  UMF's Sam Marzenell shot a second place 36 to lead the Beavers.  Other scorers for UMF were Jim Rand and Aaron Wood with 42 each, Ricky Blouin with a 44 and Mike Burian with a 46.  UMF improves to 16-5 on the season and will return to the course on Friday the 26th for the State of Maine Invitational at Riverside Golf Course.

Golf Ties for Third in Second Tournament of Season

UMF's Sam Marzenel led the Beavers through the rain yesterday on their way to a third place finish in the Thomas College "Terrier Invitational" held at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, ME.  Marzenel's 73 was only two strokes behind medalist Corey Poulin of Husson.  Other scorers for UMF were Jim Rand (80), Ricky Blouin (87), Aaron Wood (83) and Mike Burian (82).  UMF will travel to Sable Oakes for the St. Joseph's College Invitational on Tuesday the 23rd.

Golf Wins Southern Maine Invitational

The UMF golf team got off to a great start this weekend in winning the University of Southern Maine Invitational.  The Beavers were led by Medalist Sam Marzenell who shot a 70 for the weekend.  Ricky Blouin followed in 3rd place with a 74.  Jim Rand finished in 9th with a 76, Aaron Wood's 77 was good enough for 16th and Mike Burian rounded out the scoring with a 95.  UMF returns to action on Saturday  when they travel to Point Sebago for the St. Joseph's College Invitational.
