Field hockey players receive NAC All-Conference honors

Emma Deans
Ashley Wentworth

Four University of Maine at Farmington field hockey players received All-North Atlantic Conference accolades as announced by the NAC today.

Junior midfielder Emma Deans (Gorham, ME) and senior midfielder Ashley Wentworth (North Berwick, ME) were named to the All-NAC First Team, while junior goalkeeper Sarah Brown (Windham, ME) and senior forward Alyssa St. Pierre (Jay, ME) received All-NAC Second Team honors. NAC all-conference selections are determined by a vote of conference coaches.

An All-NAC First Team honoree in 2008, Deans returns to the All-NAC First Team. The junior has scored five goals, including four game-winning tallies, and three assists. She is also the team leader in defensive saves with six. Deans was named the NAC Player of the Week on Sept. 28.

Wentworth, an All-NAC Second Team choice in 2008, has tallied six goals and five assists. She was honored as the NAC Player of the Week on Monday.

Brown is 5-4 in goal for the Beavers (3-1 in the NAC), including a pair of shutouts. The junior has a 2.02 goals-against average with 61 saves.

St. Pierre leads Farmington with 10 goals scored. She also has five assists.

St. Joseph's College senior forward Julia Ostrowski was honored as the NAC Player of the Year, while Thomas College's Ally Kennedy was named the NAC Rookie of the Year. St. Joseph's Rupert Lewis garnered NAC Coach of the Year accolades.
