FARMINGTON --The third-seeded University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team is scheduled to visit No. 2 Castleton State College for a North Atlantic Conference semifinal Wednesday at 2 p.m.
The winner of the Beavers (9-7) and the Spartans (9-9) will advance to the NAC championship game to face the winner of No. 4 Husson University (8-7)/No. 1 St. Joseph's College (14-3) on Saturday. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at the highest remaining seed.

Farmington -- which advanced to this semifinal with a 3-0 win over Thomas College Saturday -- lost to the Spartans 2-1 on penalty strokes in its regular-season finale.
Kealy Chipman (Bellows Falls, VT), Jessica Scott (Poultney, VT) and Marie Amaral (Barre, VT) converted penalty stroke attempts for Castleton, while Spartan keeper Siobhan Whittemore (Springfield, VT) blocked two attempts. Alyssa St. Pierre (Jay, ME) had the lone conversion for Farmington.
Ashley Wentworth (North Berwick, ME) opened the scoring for the Beavers 5:07 into the contest when the senior took control of the ball at midfield and weaved through the Spartan defense for a goal. Molly Fraher (Goshen, CT) tied the game with a goal off a Courtney Nolan (Spring Lake Heights, NJ) penalty corner at 20:33.
The Spartans rode the momentum of the tying score to fire off six shots and take five penalty corners over the final five minutes of the opening half, but Farmington keeper Sarah Brown (Windham, ME) made three saves and Emma Deans (Gorham, ME) helped with a pair of defensive stops in keeping the game at 1-1 at halftime.
Brown recorded nine saves for the Beavers. The Spartans finished with edges in shots (21-18) and corners (21-19).
Whittemore made eight saves, five of which came in the two overtimes.

On the season, St. Pierre is the top scorer for the Beavers with 10 goals and five assists followed by Wentworth with six goals, five assists, Hattie Agnew (Guilford, ME) with five goals and team-high six assists and Deans with five goals and three assists.
Brown has started the past eight contests in goal for Farmington. On the season, she has a 2.04 goals-against average with 61 saves. Deans leads the team with six defensive saves.
The Castleton quartet of Nolan (eight goals, eight assists), Amaral (10 goals, three assists), Chipman (10 goals, one assist) and Fraher (nine goals, two assists) have each collected over 20 points this season.
Whittemore has appeared in 15 games, starting 13, for the Spartans with a 2.37 goals-against average and 93 saves.
