Field hockey sets down Husson

FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team edged Husson University 2-1 in North Atlantic Conference field hockey action this evening.

The Beavers evened their overall record at 6-6 and improved to 3-1 in the NAC. Farmington is scheduled to host Thomas College Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. The Eagles slipped to 2-7 (2-3).

Emma Deans (Gorham, ME) scored the game-winner at 60:25 for the Beavers. On a play started on a penalty corner, Deans kept the ball in the circle and scored an unassisted goal for the 2-1 final.

The Eagles scored their only goal with 11:21 on the clock in the first half.  Emily Woodbury (Burnham, ME) notched the goal and was assisted by Jillian Morin (Manchester, ME).

The Eagles led 1-0 at halftime before Alyssa St. Pierre (Jay, ME) scored off an Ashley Wentworth (North Berwick, ME) feed to even the score at 1-1.

The Eagles outshot the Beavers 18-12 but could not string together a goal after the first half. 

Farmington goalkeeper Sarah Brown (Windham, ME) had five saves while Husson’s Kristen Capen (Leeds, ME) notched three saves on the game.
