FARMINGTON -- Leigh Ronald (Farmington, ME) tallied two goals and an assist to power the University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Thomas College in North Atlantic Conference action at Prescott Field today..
The Beavers upped their mark to 6-8-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the NAC. Farmington is scheduled to host St. Joseph's College in non-conference action Sunday at 1 p.m. The Terriers dipped to 5-9-1 (1-5) and are off until next weekend when they are scheduled to host Maine Maritime Academy Saturday.
Despite a 10-0 shot advantage in the opening half for the Beavers, the contest was scoreless at intermission. Ronald gave Farmington a 1-0 lead 1:26 into the second half when she weaved through the Thomas defense and buried a bullet from just beyond the 18-yard line.
Renee Brown (Schenectady, NY) gave the Beavers a 2-0 lead at 61:00 when she poked in a Ronald pass. Ronald completed the scoring at 76:09 when she put in a Katie Cray (Richmond, ME) for the 3-0 victory.
Farmington goalkeeper McKell Barnes (Durham, ME) stopped four shots in the shutout. The Beavers held a 24-4 command in shots and an 11-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Jessica Nassetta (Standish, ME) recorded 10 saves in the first 80:04 in goal for Thomas. Anita Powers (Stonington, ME) made a save in 9:56 in goal.
