Women's soccer shut out by Rivier

FARMINGTON – Rivier College topped University of Maine at Farmington 2-0 in non-conference women’s soccer action today at Prescott Field.

The Beavers slipped to 2-1 and are slated to visit the University of Southern Maine Tuesday, while the Raiders improved to 1-1 with a trip to Pine Manor College Wednesday.

Heather Lefebvre (Haverhill, MA) and Amy Desimone (Methuen, MA) each netted a goal for Rivier, which controlled play with a 19-5 shot advantage. Lefebvre chipped in a Emily Ingram (Litchfield, NH) pass for a 1-0 lead for the visitors at 59:09. Desimone came through with an insurance marker at 65:06 as she converted a Georgia Steese (Wilmont, NH) feed.

McKell Barnes (Durham, ME)
and Crystal Johnson (Skowhegan, ME) split time in goal for Farmington with Johnson taking the loss. Barnes made three saves and Johnson five.

Brittany Puleo (Hudson, NH) needed to make only one save in recording the shutout.
