LYNDON CENTER, Vt. -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team earned a 2-0 North Atlantic Conference victory over Lyndon State College this afternoon.
Leigh Ronald (Farmington, ME) and Alida Peake (Penobscot, ME) each scored a goal for the Beavers (5-7-1, 2-2-1), who are scheduled to host Colby College Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. The Hornets are 7-5 (1-3).
Ronald scored the first goal of the game for the Beavers, an unassisted tally at the 28:03 mark of the opening half. Three minutes later, Peake netted an unassisted goal to close out the scoring in the contest.
Farmington goalkeeper McKell Barnes (Durham, ME) made three saves to get the win and Lyndon State netminders Samantha Smith and Natalia Shams combined to stop 10 shots in the loss. Farmington outshot Lyndon State by a margin of 22-8.
With the win, Maine- Farmington improves to 5-7-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the NAC while Lyndon falls to 7-5 and 1-3 in conference play.
