FARMINGTON -- Castleton State College handled the University of Maine at Farmington 3-0 in North Atlantic Conference women's soccer action at Prescott Field this afternoon.
The Beavers (3-7-1 overall, 0-2-1 in the NAC) are off until next weekend when they travel to Vermont to face conference foes Johnson State Saturday and Lyndon State Sunday. The Spartans (5-5-1, 3-0) are slated to host Maine Maritime Academy Saturday.
Courtney Chadburn (North Clarendon, VT) and Ashley Ledoux (Swanton, VT) each collected a goal and an assist to lead the Spartans as the visitors fired off 31 shots to Farmington's five.
Courtney Chadburn opened the scoring by collected a throughball by Carissa Chadburn (North Clarendon, VT) and racing to the goal to fire a shot past Farmington netminder McKell Barnes (Durham, ME) for a 1-0 lead.
Despite being outshot 21-1 in the opening half, the Beavers only trailed by the lone goal at intermission, but Brandy White (Springfield, VT) scored off an Ashley Ledoux (Swanton, VT) pass at 45:34 to push the lead to 2-0. Ledoux padded the Castleton advantage to 3-0 as she scored off a Courtney Chadburn pass at 64:37 to complete the 3-0 win.
Barnes recorded 16 saves for Farmington, including a pair of diving stops in the opening half and a direct kick fingertipped over the crossbar in the second half.
Ericka Davis (Cambridge, VT) made four saves in the victory.
