Women's soccer shuts out Thomas

WATERVILLE -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team posted a 2-0 North Atlantic Conference victory over Thomas College this afternoon.

The Beavers improved to 7-5 overall and 5-1 in the NAC with a trip to Bates College scheduled for Wednesday. The Terriers dropped to 5-7-1 (1-4).

The first goal of the game was scored by Farmington’s Amber Murphy (Manchester, NH) midway through the first half in the midst of a scramble in front of the Thomas goal. Murphy was assisted by Heidi Jackson (York, ME). Farmington’s second goal of the contest came with just less than 20 minutes left to play in the contest on an own goal by Thomas.

Farmington goalkeepers McKell Barnes (Durham, ME) and Crystal Johnson (Skowhegan, ME) combined for one save, which was credited to Johnson.

Thomas goalkeepers Jess Nassetta and Lindsay Gove combined for 13 saves in the contest.
