Women's soccer blanked by St. Joseph's

STANDISH, Maine -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team fell to St. Joseph's College 2-0 in non-conference action today.

The Beavers (6-5) are scheduled to travel to Thomas College for a North Atlantic Conference match Saturday.

Katie Jordan (Sandwich, MA) scored a goal and added an assist in to lift St. Joseph’s (8-4-1) past the Beavers. Katye Mayo (Fairfield, ME) made two saves in net to post her fifth shutout of the year.

Jordan commenced the game scoring at the 7:32 mark when she netted the eventual game-winning marker on a penalty shot. The 1-0 lead stood going into the intermission.

Fourteen minutes into the second half, Mikayla Call (Portland, ME) notched her team-leading 11th goal of the fall on a breakaway that was set up by a Jordan pass.

The Lady Monks outshot the Beavers 8-5 and held a 3-1 corner kick advantage in the victory.

The shutout bid by Mayo gives her 12 for her career and sole possession of third place on the all-time list behind Karen Rogers ‘95 (31) and Kendra Brown ‘01 (35).

Farmington keeper McKell Barnes (Durham, ME) made two saves in the loss.
