Murphy, Barnes receive NAC honors
FARMINGTON -- University of Maine at Farmington junior forward Amber Murphy (Manchester, NH) was named the North Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week and sophomore goalkeeper Mckell Barnes (Durham, ME) was honored as the NAC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference today.
Murphy led the Beavers to a pair of postseason victories as the junior netted the overtime game-winner in a 1-0 semifinal win at Castleton and scored a goal and set up the game-winner in a 3-2 overtime victory vs. Lyndon State in the opening round. This is the second time Murphy has been honored by the conference.
After missing the first-round game, Barnes weathered 22 shots with four saves at Castleton. This is the first time Barnes has been honored by the NAC in women's soccer.
The Beavers (9-7) are scheduled to visit Husson University Saturday for the NAC championship game at 11 a.m.
