Norton earns NAC rookie honors

FARMINGTON -- The North Atlantic Conference announced its weekly honors on Monday with several University of Maine at Farmington student-athletes collecting awards.

Freshman forward Chelsea Norton (Westbrook, ME) was named the NAC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week. Norton scored a pair of goals and assisted on another score to lead the top-seeded Beavers to a 6-1 win over No. 8 Johnson State in the NAC quarterfinals Sunday. After previously slipping past the Badgers 1-0 in the regular season, UMF exploded for six goals with Norton setting the tempo 1:19 into the contest and padding the lead in the second half.

Norton was named the NAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week on Oct. 1.

The Beavers (14-4-1) are scheduled to host No. 5 Elms today in NAC semifinal action.
