Kowalczyk named NAC Co-Player of the Year

FARMINGTON -- University of Maine at Farmington senior netminder Kerry Kowalczyk (Topsham, ME) was named the North Atlantic Conference Co-Women's Soccer Player of the Year in a vote by conference coaches.

Kowalczyk -- who shared the award with Lesley's Jodi Fralick -- led the conference in save percentage (.957) and goals-against average (1.12). She allowed one goal in more than 760 minutes of conference action.

Kowalczyk was also an All-NAC First Team selection along with freshman forward Chelsea Norton (Westbrook, ME). Norton -- one of five freshman players on the First Team -- scored five goals and assisted on a pair of scores in conference play.

Junior back Amanda Byrne (Winslow, ME) and sophomore forward Jackie Mrazik (Mount Vernon, ME) headlined the NAC All- Second Team. Byrne -- a NAC First-Teamer last season -- totaled in a goal and four assists, while Mrazik contributed five goals and an assist during NAC matches.

The Beavers (14-4-2) are scheduled to host Husson (13-6-1) in the North Atlantic Conference title game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
