The nucleus of the NAIA region 10 championship team has
graduated and the Beavers will certainly have a new look this fall.
Nine veterans and 16 new candidates will enter a new era of UMF women's
soccer. A new conference (NAC), and a new national organization
(NCAA), will add a whole new concept to the veterans who have only played
NAIA postseason tournaments. This will be an exciting year to watch
the young team develop and meet the challenges ahead of them. Julia
Malek, senior co-captian, will give the leadership to help this team
mature. Patty Boutin will move from fullback to goal keeper and
Leticia Palleschi will continue her fullback duties. Tori Finnemore
and Steph Hiller will give added veteran support. Junior co-captain,
Erin Findlan and her fellow classmates will give much needed experience in
the field. Hannah Bogar and Sam Goyette will work the midfield and
Addie Price will move to striker position. Half of the first 15
players will come from the new freshman class; Jodi Welch will be
looked to to help the offense immediately while Kelsy Burk, Megan McCrum,
Mary Kimball and Nicole Brennen will solidify the defense. Erin
Campbell, Heidi Parker, Noelle Doucette, Rebecca Stevenson and Bailly
Hovey will help both the midfield and the attack. Molly Bell, Susan
Murray, Brandi Dow, Shanna McGary and Krysandra Dennison complete the
freshman class and will see playing time throughout the season.
