2001 MAC Champions!!!

Woodcock, Sjulander Named NAIA All-American Honorable Mention

Senior men's soccer player Lars Sjulander and junior women's soccer player Megan Woodcock were named to the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention Team today.  Sjulander, a two time MAC Player of the Year, anchored UMF's defensive staff that was not scored on in the conference regular season and recorded  an NCAA second place ranking in shut out percentage and first place in goals against average.  Lars also established himself as an offensive threat this year as he came from his sweeper position to score his first career goal against MAC rival Husson College.  Woodcock, a three time MAC Player of the Year, vaulted into the UMF record books this year, breaking the all time career scoring record and the single season scoring record.  Megan also enjoyed NCAA top five rankings in points per game and goals per game averages, as she led the team to its second conference championship in four years.

Women's Soccer Ends Season as Regional Runner Up

The UMF women's soccer team was unable to stop a very strong Green Mountain College team in the regional championship today.  UMF was defeated 4-0 in Philadelphia.  With one of the most successful seasons in program history, UMF returns to Farmington with a 17-4 overall record and a MAC title under its belt.

Woodcock Propels Beavers into Regional Championship

UMF junior captain Megan Woodcock found the net with seven minutes to go in the second overtime to lift the Beavers past regional host Holy Family College 1-0.  This marks Woodcocks 28th goal of the season and UMF's 12th shutout.  The Beavers will face Green Mountain College in the championship game tomorrow in Philadelphia, PA at 12pm.

Women's Soccer Leaves Today for Philadelphia

The UMF women's soccer team will be departing from Dearborn Gymnasium today at 5pm to make the trip to Philadelphia, PA and compete in their second regional tournament in four years.  UMF will take on host Holy Family College on Friday at 2pm.  Should they win, they will play the winner of Green Mountain College and Felician College on Saturday.  A win on Saturday would give the Beavers an automatic bid to the national tournament.  Come by the gym at 5pm to wish the team good luck!

Women's Soccer Wins MAC Championship

The UMF women's soccer team captured it's 2nd MAC title in 4 years as they defeated MAC rival St. Joseph's College 3-0 today.  Shannon Mailhot and Julia Malek each tallied a goal and an assist and Richelle Dube added another goal to lift the Beavers to victory.  UMF awaits the seedings for the NAIA regional tournament which will be held at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champion's institution on November 9th & 10th.

UMaine-Farmington Advances To Maine Athletic Conference Championship Game

The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer defeated UMaine-Presque Isle 2-1 in four overtimes in the semi-finals of the Maine Athletic Conference Tournament.  With the victory UMF improved its record to 15-3, and will play St. Joseph's College at 1:30 PM on Saturday, in a rematch of last years championship game. The MAC Championship soccer games will be held at Thomas College.

Women's Soccer Ends Regular Season with Record Breaking Win

The UMF women's soccer team defeated Thomas College 4-0 yesterday to give them a school record 14th win of the season.  Megan Woodcock stands in first place in the MAC scoring column just in front of Husson's Melissa Achorn, who plays her last regular season game today.  In the victory over Thomas, UMF used the same balanced scoring that has earned them a first place finish in the MAC.  Julia Malek, Richelle Dube and Jen Ireland all scored in the first half and Megan Woodcock added her 26th goal of the season with seven minutes remaining in the game.  Goalkeepers Alyson Pontbriand and Dawn Robertson combined for UMF's 10th shutout of the season.  UMF will open the MAC tournament at home on Tuesday October 30th at 1pm.

Women's Soccer Cruises Past UMaine Fort Kent 8-0

Erin Findlan opened the scoring mid way through the first half and UMF never looked back.  Stephanie Hiller netted a stellar 4 goals for the Beavers followed by Shannon Mailhot with 2 and Megan Woodcock with one.  Goalkeepers Alyson Pontbriand and Dawn Robertson combined for the shutout.  UMF will close out the regular season Tuesday at Thomas College in Waterville.

Women's Soccer Defeats UMPI, 2-0

Junior, Megan Woodcock continued her scoring streak, finding the net on  a penalty kick 3 minutes into the game.  Richelle Dube added another goal in the second half to seal the victory for the Beavers.  UMF is currently tied for first place in the MAC.  The Beavers host UMFK tomorrow and close out the season Tuesday October 23rd at Thomas College.

Women's Soccer Cruises Past Maine Maritime Academy 11-0

Megan Woodcock and Richelle Dube each recorded hat tricks today as the Beavers notched their 11th win and 7th shutout of the season.  Other scorers for UMF were junior Shannon Mailhot, Freshman Erin Conant (2), Addie Price and Stephanie Hiller.  Dawn Robertson and Alyson Pontbriand combined for the shutout in the goal.  UMF hosts UMaine Presque Isle this Saturday at 1pm and UMaine Fort Kent on Sunday at 1pm.

Woodcock Breaks Career Scoring Record with Third Hat Trick of Season

Megan Woodcock tallied three goals for the Beavers as they rolled to an important Maine Athletic Conference victory 4-2 over visiting Husson College.  Erin Findlan added another goal for UMF in the win.  With only one conference loss the Beavers are looking to finish their last three conference games strong and enter the MAC tournament as one of the top seeds.  Next up for the Beavers is non conference Maine Maritime Academy on Monday October 15th.

USM Steals One from Women's Soccer

Richelle Dube continued her offensive streak scoring 6 minutes into the 2nd half to give the Beavers the lead.  USM answered 20 minutes later and again with 5:30 remaining in the game to seal the victory.  UMF drops to 9-3 overall and remains 4-1 in the MAC.  The Beavers face MAC rival Husson College Saturday October 13th in Farmington.  UMF defeated Husson earlier this season 2-1.

Woodcock Hat Trick Propels Beavers Past Johnson State 5-2

The UMF's women's soccer team has been led all season by the stellar offensive play of  Megan Woodcock, Shannon Mailhot, Richelle Dube and Julia Malek.  Against Johnson State Sunday they demonstrated exactly how well they play together in combining for all 5 goals of the day.  Megan Woodcock registered her second hat trick of the season while Shannon Mailhot and Julia Malek also added goals.  Richelle Dube distributed three assists to her teammates.  This marks the 9th win of the season for the Beavers with only 2 losses.  UMF will travel to the University of Southern Maine on Thursday October 10th before gearing up for MAC rival Husson College on Saturday October 13th.

Women's Soccer Rolls to Win Over Notre Dame College

Megan Woodcock again paced the Beavers with two goals as they stretched their current win streak to four and extended their overall record to 8-2.  UMF will face Johnson State tomorrow in Vermont at 12pm and will travel to the University of Southern Maine on Thursday October 11th.

Women's Soccer Rolls Past Lyndon State

Megan Woodcock connected for 2 goals along with Julia Malek, Erin Findlan, Shannon Mailhot and Richelle Dube to defeat visiting Lyndon State 6-0.  Goal Keepers Alyson Pontbriand and Dawn Robertson combined for the shutout.  UMF extends its record to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the MAC.  The Beavers travel to Vermont this weekend to play Notre Dame College and Johnson State University on Saturday and Sunday.

Women's Soccer Receives Regional Ranking

The UMF women's soccer team was ranked 4th in the NAIA Region X rankings released yesterday.  The Beavers are ranked behind #3 Felician, #2 UMaine Machias (who the Beavers lost to 1-0 earlier this season) and #1 Green Mountain.

Women's Soccer Cruises Past Thomas, 7-0

Four players scored for UMF as they improved their conference record to 4-1, 6-2 overall.  Megan Woodcock led the way opening the scoring 5 minutes into the game on her way to a hat trick.  She was followed by Shannon Mailhot, Heather Petersen and Julia Malek propelling the Beavers to their second highest scoring output of the season.  Goal Keepers Alyson Pontbriand and Dawn Robertson combined for the shutout.  On Wednesday, October 3rd the Beavers face Lyndon State College at UMF.

Women's Soccer Shuts Out MAC Rival St. Joseph's 3-0

Junior, captains Megan Woodcock, Shannon Mailhot and sophomore Julia Malek all scored goals for the Beavers as they cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Monks of St. Joseph's College.  Goal keeper Alyson Pontbriand recorded her third shutout of the season making 4 saves.  The Beavers look to improve their record when they face Thomas College Saturday night at Hippach Field in Farmington.

Women's Soccer Suffers First Defeat, 0-1

UMF out shot the UMaine Machias Clippers 34-8, however they were unable to score.  Alyson Pontbriand made 6 saves in the losing effort.  The Beavers face MAC rival St. Joseph's College in Standish on Thursday, September 27th.

Women's Soccer Losses to Colby in Overtime 2-1

Shannon Mailhot gave UMF a 1-0 lead with just over 5 minutes to go in regulation, however Colby quickly answered within 2 minutes to tie the score at 1-1.  Colby scored again with 8 seconds remaining in the first overtime to take the win.  UMF will face the Alumni on Saturday, September 22nd and travels to UMaine Machias on Sunday the 23rd.

Women's Soccer gets 4th Straight Win at UMPI

Junior Megan Woodcock, Sophomore Julia Malek and Freshman Addie Price all tallied goals for the Beavers lifting them past UMPI 3-0 on Saturday.  Goal Keeper Erin Pontbriand recorded her second shutout of the season stopping 7 shots on goal.  The Beavers will host Colby College on Wednesday, September 19th.

UMF Women's Soccer defeats Husson 2-1 for third straight win
Megan Woodcock scored two goals in the second half to lead the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers to 2-1 women’s soccer victory over the Husson College Braves Wednesday. Alyson Pontbriand made five saves on eight shots for 3-0 UMaine-Farmington.  The Beavers will play at UMaine Presque Isle Saturday, September 15.
