WATERVILLE --The University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country squad opened its season today in the Colby College Class Wave Relay Carnival..

In the junior/senior event, Colby won at 25 points followed by Bates (30) and Farmington (85). Ashley Mace (York, ME) was the first Farmington finisher at 18th in 22:34.77..

In the freshman/sophomore competition, Bates held off Colby (23-27) with Farmington (100) third. Melani St. Pierre (Charlestown, NH) came in 14th at 20:51.55..

Farmington is scheduled to return to action next weekend as the Beavers head to the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.
