Women's cross country team at UMass-Dartmouth

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country team competed at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth Shriners Invitational.

The Beavers placed 23rd out of 41 teams with 668 points. MIT won the event with 67 points.

Melani St. Pierre (Charlestown, NH) paced Farmington with an 88th-place finish in 19:58 on the 5K run. Emily Farley (Bernard, ME) at 113th in 20:34, Amanda Gunter (Farmington, ME) at 165th in 21:18, Emily Weston (Rumford, ME) at 173rd in 21:28 and Becky Cunningham (Eliot, ME) at 190th at 21:42 also got into the scoring.

There were 310 runners at the event. Elise Tropiano of Amherst was the top collegiate finisher at 18:11.

Farmington is scheduled to return to action on Oct. 4 when the Beavers are scheduled to host the UMF Invitational at Mt. Blue High School.
