Cross country teams compete at UMass-Dartmouth
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Shriners' Invitational.
The men's team placed 22nd in the 31-team field. Trinity won the event with 55 points. The Beavers finished with 631 points. The women's team finished 22nd in the 29-squad competition with 596 points. Amherst won with 42 points.
On the men's side, the Beavers' top finisher was Tim Millett (Gorham, ME). Millett placed 104th with a time of 28:09 in the five-mile race. Other UMF competitors included Kel Cenga (Brewster, MA) at 28:21, Peter Delano (Rockport, ME) at 28:28, Ty Thurlow (Lee, ME) at 29:58, Cam Fecteau (Gorham, ME) at 30:25, Phil Jackson (Westbrook, ME) at 30:42 and Pat Pozzetti (Portland, CT) at 30:46.
The men's team -- North Atlantic Conference champions from 2003-2005 -- finished ahead of last year's conference titleist Castleton (636 points).
In the sub-varsity race, Matt Cornelius (Duxbury, MA) ran a 29:35 -- which was the fourth-fastest time for the Beavers on the day.

On the women's side, Emily Farley (Mount Desert Island, ME) was the Beavers' top runner with a 56th-place finish at 19:46 on the 5K course. Other UMF finishers included Amy Siebert (Waterville, ME) at 21:34, Emily Weston (Rumford, ME) at 22:01, Lyn Plog (Avon, ME) at 22:03, Michelle Dubocq (Oakland, ME) at 22:29, Meaghan Champagne (Littleton, NH) at 23:11 and Ashley Page (Durham, ME) at 23:15
