Cross country teams at New Englands

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA Division III New England Championships at Connecticut College on Saturday.

The men finished 28th, while the women finished in 41st. Amherst won each competition.   Men's results   Women's results

On the men's side, Tim Millett (Gorham, ME) led the Beavers with a 120th-place finish with a time of 26:59.6. Millett's time was his personal best on an 8K course and third best all-time in school history. Kel Cenga (Brewster, MA) at 27:22.5, Peter Delano (Rockport, ME) at 27:50.9, Chris Durkin (Brunswick, ME) at 29:01.0 and Ty Thurlow (Lee, ME) at 29:05.5 completed Farmington's scoring. John Zwetsloot (Wells, ME) at 29:26.1 and Cam Fecteau (Gorham, ME) at 29:31.9.

Six of the seven Farmington men's runners ran their personal-best times on an 8K course. Every runner finished under 30 minutes on the course. It is a feat never before achieved by a UMF team.

On the women's side, Lyn Plog (Avon, ME) paced Farmington with a time of 25:42.0. Amanda Gunter (Farmington, ME), Michelle Dubocq (Oakland, ME), Becky Cunningham (Eliot, ME), Amy Siebert (Waterville, ME), Emily Weston (Rumford, ME) and Emily Farley (Mount Desert Island, ME) each finished with a time of 27:26.
