Katie Herbine

Katie (Clark) Herbine
is entering her third season as the head women's cross country
coach at UMaine-Farmington.
Herbine recently returned to Maine after attending law
school in Boston and practicing law in Florida for two years. She
becomes the fourth head coach in UMF women's cross country history.
Herbine has a long history of running, beginning with road races
with her family that grew into varsity participation in track and
field at Bangor High School (Bangor, ME). In college, Katie turned
her focus to basketball when she was offered a scholarship to play
at the University of Maine. She was a member of the team that
made four NCAA national tournament appearances and was captain from
1999-2000. Since graduating from college, Katie has
resurrected her running career and has participated in
numerous road races, including the 2003 Chicago Marathon, the 2005
Disney Marathon and the 2006 Disney Marathon, where she qualified
for the Boston Marathon.
A 2000 graduate from the University of Maine with a degree in
history, and a 2003 graduate of the New England School of Law with a
Juris Doctor degree, Herbine takes over a program that has a strong
history of success. In the past eight years, the Beavers have won
seven conference titles, have made six national level appearances
and had the conference runner of the year seven times.
Katie recently purchased a farm in Starks, ME, with
her husband, Andy, and their golden retriever, Elsie.
