Morency receives weekly honors
FARMINGTON -- University of Maine at Farmington freshman shortstop Samantha Morency (Lewiston, ME) was honored Monday as the North Atlantic Conference Softball Rookie of Week.
Morency batted .500 (5-10) with two doubles and a pair of RBI in a loss to Colby and a doubleheader sweep of Johnson State (statistics against Lyndon State were unavailable at the time of nominations). The freshman also played error-free defense in the three games.
Morency is the first Farmington player to be honored by the conference this season.
The Beavers (8-7) are scheduled to visit Thomas College Wednesday for a doubleheader. The twinbill is tabbed for a 3 p.m. start.
