Softball falls short of sweep at Lyndon State

The University of Maine at Farmington women's softball team rolled to a 12-0 victory in the opener, but fell 6-5 in game two in a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader today against Lyndon State College.

The Beavers sit at 6-7 overall and 5-3 in the NAC with a twinbill slated for Monday at Prescott Field. The first game is tabbed for a 2 p.m. start. The Hornets stand at 5-13 (3-5).

Mckell Barnes (Durham, ME) hit for the cycle in the first game for the Beavers, while Jess Timmreck (Brunswick, ME) recorded the shutout.

In the second contest, the Hornets scored twice in the seventh to rally for the victory. Liz Bergeron (Milford, ME) was hit with the loss.

Details of the doubleheader will not be available until Monday.
