Porter earns District 1 accolades
FARMINGTON -- University of Maine at Farmington senior centerfielder Erin Porter (Bangor, ME) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 Third Team as announced by CoSIDA today.
Majoring in elementary education, Porter has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.93. Academic All-District nominees must be starters or key reserves on their teams with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. They are eligible after completing one full calendar year at their institution and reaching sophomore athletic eligibility.
A co-captain this season and a three-year starter, Porter batted .327 (34-104) for the softball team with four doubles, nine RBI and a team-high 11 sacrifice hits. Porter was honored on the North Atlantic Conference All-Tournament Team last weekend.
Porter also was a three-year starter and captain of the women's basketball team. The senior received All-NAC Second Team honors this winter.
Farmington finished its season at 17-13.
