Men's cross country second at UNE

BIDDEFORD -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's cross country squad opened its season with a second-place finish at the University of New England Invitational today.

The University of Southern Maine claimed five of the top six spots to win the event with 16 points. The Beavers amassed 78 points to hold off UNE (83). Other teams competing included Daniel Webster (97), Maine Maritime Academy (121) and Endicott (129).

Tim Millett (Gorham, ME) was the Beavers' top finisher on the 8,000-meter course in 12th at 29:49 with teammate Cam Betts (Gray, ME) on his heels in 13th at 29:50. Ty Thurlow (Lee, ME) placed 20th in 30:40 with Cam Fecteau (Gorham, ME) in 26th at 31:44 and Kel Cenga (Brewster, MA) in 33rd at 32:23. Full results

Farmington is scheduled to return to action next weekend at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.
