FARMINGTON -- Freshman Tim Millett (Gorham, ME) was named the North Atlantic Conference Runner of the Week for the second straight week as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Millett won the St. Joseph's College Runnin' Monks Invitational on Saturday to lead the Beavers to a first-place finish at the event. Millett overtook leader Ryan Prescott of St. Joseph's in the last 200 meters to snatch the victory by one second (28:51-28:52) at the 8,000-meter event. At UNE a month earlier, Prescott had beaten Millett by two minutes, 46 seconds.
In the week prior, Millett was named the NAC Runner of the Week after breaking up a clean sweep by Bowdoin College at the UMF Invitational at Mt. Blue High School with a third-place finish. Millett's time on the 8,000-meter course was 28:46.
The week of Sept. 17, Millett received NAC Rookie of the Week accolades as UMF's top finisher at the UMass-Dartmouth Shriners' Invitational.
The Beavers are scheduled to compete at the State of Maine Championships on Saturday at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester. The men race at 11 a.m. with the women to follow.
