Men's Cross Country Season Preview

The sixth season for UMF XC promises to be an exciting and challenging one as all sports at Farmington move from the NAIA to NCAA Division III. After placing first in the Maine Athletic Conference in 2000 and 2001 and runner up in the Sunrise conference in 2002, this squad should be a contender in their new conference, the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). The men’s team has added several talented runners to replace four top athletes that have moved on. The 2003 Harriers will be led by 2002 NAIA National Qualifier Nick Scott a junior from Monmouth, ME. Scott, Co-Captain for the third season, has already threatened the school 8 kilometer (4.96 miles) record of 27:27 set in 2000 by Marc Collard (’00) of Wells, ME. Returning senior captain Luc Roy (“04, Oakland, Me) will become the first male to complete four years of running varsity cross country at Farmington. Newcomers for the team include junior Ben Brodis, (Hope, Me), sophomore Drew Croteau (Durham, CT) and former Edward Little HS (Auburn, Me) standout, sophomore Ben Fletcher.
