Cross Country Teams Take 2nd at Regional Meet

The UMF cross country teams experienced a day of highs and lows yesterday as they each captured 2nd place in the regional meet held at UMaine Presque Isle.  The women's race was highlighted by  Kate McGuire's win which earned her a birth in the national meet.  However, the women's team was edged out of a win and a national birth by Lyndon State's one point margin.  On the men's side, the Beavers were again edged out by Lyndon State but were exited to have four runners qualify for nationals.  They were Nick Scott, Brett Almasi, Doug Pierce and Andrew Sweeney.  Kate McGuire was named Region 10 Runner of the Year and women's coach Kelley Cullenberg was named Region 10 Coach of the Year.  The Beavers will now prepare for the national meet which will be held in Kenosha Wisconsin on November 23rd.
