Men's basketball tripped up vs. MMA
CASTINE -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team fell to Maine Maritime Academy 67-64 in North Atlantic Conference competition tonight.
Eric Taylor (Oakland, ME) powered the Beavers with a career-high 30 points and 10 boards as Farmington dropped to 3-7 (1-1 in the NAC) with a trip to Thomas College slated for Saturday. The Mariners improved to 5-7 (1-0).
Taylor scored 25 of his points in the opening half and finished 16 of 19 from the charity stripe. Josh Tanguay (Gorham, ME) followed with 10 points.
The Mariners battled back from a seven-point deficit at the half to win.
Michael Wharff (Sangerville, ME) led the Mariners in double figures scoring 17 points, which included five threes, and also sealed the win for MMA with two free throws with eight seconds left in the game. Derek DiFrederico (Millinocket, ME) and Jake Manner (Frankfort, ME) each scored 16 points.
