Taylor leads men's basketball to victory
POULTNEY, Vt. -- Eric Taylor (Oakland, ME) tallied a career-high 34 points to lead the University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team to a 77-65 North Atlantic Conference victory over Green Mountain College tonight.
Taylor shot 14 of 22 from the field and also pulled down 12 rebounds in helping the Beavers improve to 7-9 overall and 5-2 in the NAC. The Eagles slipped to 10-6 (2-4).
Farmington's Josh Tanguay (Gorham, ME) joined Taylor with a double-double, scoring 21 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Andrew Dean (Gorham, ME) added 10 points.
The game featured eight lead changes, but the Beavers used a 69.6 percent shooting effort in the second half to pull away. Green Mountain trailed by three at the interval, (30-27), but could not get any closer, shooting only 37.7 percent on the night.
The Eagles were led by Fabian Ferriera (Queens, NY) scoring 20 points and notching 3 assists. Gerard Johnson (Binghamton, NY) and Rui Carmo (Fort Meyers, FL) both added 14 points in the losing effort.
