Fry, Dean receive NAC honors

FARMINGTON -- Two University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball players were honored by the North Atlantic Conference today for their performances last week.

Sean Fry (Jay, ME) was named the NAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, while Andrew Dean (Gorham, ME) earned the NAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week honor.

Fry led the Beavers to a 2-1 week with a pair of NAC wins over Johnson State and Castleton.  Against Castleton, Fry tallied his 1,000th career point with a 24-point, 13-rebound performance. Versus Johnson State, Fry scored a team-high 18 points. Fry also posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a loss against Tufts.

This is the third time this season that Fry was recognized by the NAC.

This is the second time that Dean earned NAC rookie accolades. Against Castleton, Dean threw in 11 points, including three 3-pointers, with seven assists. Against Johnson, Dean scored nine points with four assists and five rebounds. In a loss to Tufts, Dean tallied nine points with six assists.

The Beavers are scheduled to host NAC rival Husson College on Tueday with the men's game at 5:30 p.m. and the women's contest to follow.
