St. John earns NAC accolades
FARMINGTON -- University of Maine at Farmington senior guard Matt St. John (Wayne, ME) earned North Atlantic Conference Honorable Mention honors in a vote by the league's men's basketball coaches as announced by the conference this afternoon.
St. John averaged 13.6 points per game in conference play. He was second in the conference in 3-point field goals made with 3.46 makes per game. On Feb. 8, 2008, at Lesley University, St. John became the 22nd men's basketball player in school history to score 1,000 points.
This is the second time St. John has been recognized by the conference. He also received NAC Honorable Mention honors in 2005-06.
Becker College junior guard Travis Suber was named the NAC Player of the Year, while Thomas College freshman guard Andrew Duncanson was honored as the NAC Rookie of the Year. Becker's Brian Gordon and Maine Maritime's Chris Murphy shared the NAC Coach of the Year accolades. Wheelock was recognized with the Team Sportsmanship Award.
The Beavers finished their season at 11-15 overall and 7-6 in the NAC. Farmington lost at Elms College 79-65 in the NAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday.
