Men's basketball stifled by MMA

CASTINE -- Maine Maritime Academy held the University of Maine at Farmington to 28 percent shooting from the floor to earn a 63-57 victory in North Atlantic Conference men's basketball action tonight.

The Beavers dropped to 11-13 overall and 7-5 in the NAC with Lesley University at home on Saturday in Farmington's regular season finale. The Mariners improved to 10-12 (7-5).

Eric Lelansky (Portland, ME) led the Beavers with 15 points, including five of nine shooting from behind the arc. Isaac Hutchinson (Oakland, ME) scored 13 points and Andrew Dean (Gorham, ME) added 10 points in the loss.

Maine Maritime was led by Neil Stewart (Rangeley, ME), who scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, collecting his ninth double-double of the season. Chad Paddock (Dayton, OH) also played well, contributing eight points and eight rebounds, while Derek DiFrederico (Millinocket, ME) added seven points, five rebounds and three assists. MMA outrebounded Farmington 39-33 en route to the victory. At halftime, Farmington led 32-30, but the Mariners outscored the Beavers 33-25 in second half to pull off the victory.
